The MOU, which would expire on February 28, 2010, states that "Lauren Bon and the Metabolic Studio, LLC will provide a multitude of clinical opportunities to Veterans in programs across the WLA Campus." The project "will create an American Flag within the quad area between buildings 207 [sic], 208, 209 on the WLA Campus" in two phases. "For the "Stripes" phase, the stripes of the flag will be created using rows of reclaimed strawberries and walking paths made of the existing turf. One corner of the flag will be used for the iconic blue field using Borage, an edible herb with blue and white star-shaped flowers. A portion of the reclaimed strawberry beds will utilize repurposed agricultural fruit bins to serve as elevated beds accessible to individuals in wheelchairs...the entire flag area is to be bordered with a white picket fence accompanied by beds of fragrant, white flowering perennials." "The second phase or "stars" portion...will incorporate the processing of the reclaimed strawberries and present clinical opportunities for veterans." Under "VA Responsibilities" the MOU states: "The structure, supervision and study of Veteran participation will be carefully designed and managed according to clinical indications....VA staff will accompany Veterans (from their programs) who wish to participate". Under responsibilities for Lauren Bon and the Metabolic Studio, the MOU includes mention of a $million liability insurance and the requirement that "All community/public relations regarding this project will be preapproved by VA Public Affairs." Al shares the MOU with Lauren Bon and Jules Rochelle Sievert, who organizes review by a lawyer.
