Industrialized strawberry production determines that, although a strawberry plant can fruit many times, it is most profitable if plowed under after the first fruiting. Having made arrangements with a local farmer, Valley Crest Landscape Development and Strawberry Flag team members salvage plants that have fruited once and take them to Strawberry Flag. Here they are planted in the artwork's aquaponic system where they become the red stripes of the for continued fruitful life.
