Event: Adolfo V. Nodal drafts a WLA-VA project outline titled: "Operation FLAG – Project 205, 208, 209 – Reclaim Strawberry Fields"

"The project is -- in the words of its creator – Artist Lauren Bon -- "a pageant of making a flag out of reclaimed plants" and should evolve like a kind of "barn-raising". This project will be unveiled in a very discreet way..."Whispered into consciousness"". The document describes that reclaimed strawberries will be planted on July 4, 2009 in a "stripe" formation in the earth of the WLA-VA quad described by Bldgs.. 205, 208, and 209. After which the "stars" - possibly blue flowers - will be planted. The strawberries will be processed into jam in a VA kitchen and probably sold, with any profits poured back into veteran aid. Possibly the jam jars will also contain audio clips of veterans talking about the strawberries. Focusing initially on social media, internet radio, and personal networking, the communications plan will describe a "slow and carefully executed journey to the surface" of public consciousness that starts with communications internal to the WLA-VA, neighborhood and area residents, veterans groups and VA officials and broadens to include the art press and general media.
